The older I get, the more I respect and appreciate the 90s. I miss those days and the music.
Robert Douglas
the 90's were truly the last age of innocence...a time never to be again and sorely missed now...
Jake Morty
Who is listening to this in 2019?
John Sticher
i remember being 23 years old in 1996 and MTV(yes, they actually used to play music videos) would play this song over and over and over again and I would always turn the volume down and be like "stop playing that song".

Then I said "ok, I want to see what is going on....why do they keep playing this song" I turned up the volume and listened to the song and was just OMG.....this man knows my soul.

"So long ago, I don't remember when
That's when they say I lost my only friend
Well they said she died easy of a broken heart disease
As I listened through the cemetery trees

I seen the sun comin' up at the funeral at dawn
The long broken arm of human law
Now it always seemed such a waste, she always had a pretty face
So I wondered how she hung around this place

Hey, come on try a little
Nothing is forever
There's got to be something better than
In the middle
But me and Cinderella
We put it all together
We can drive it home
With one headlight

She said it's cold
It feels like Independence Day
And I can't break away from this parade
But there's got to be an opening
Somewhere here in front of me
Through this maze of ugliness and greed
And I seen the sun up ahead at the county line bridge
Sayin' all there's good and nothingness is dead
We'll run until she's out of breath
She ran until there's nothin' left
She hit the end, it's just her window ledge

Hey, come on try a little
Nothing is forever
There's got to be something better than
In the middle
But me and Cinderella
We put it all together
We can drive it home
With one headlight

Well this place is old
It feels just like a beat up truck
I turn the engine, but the engine doesn't turn
Well it smells of cheap wine, cigarettes
This place is always such a mess
Sometimes I think I'd like to watch it burn
I'm so alone and I feel just like somebody else
Man, I ain't changed, but I know I ain't the same
But somewhere here in between the city walls of dyin' dreams
I think of death, it must be killin' me

Hey, hey hey come on try a little
Nothing is forever
There's got to be something better than
In the middle
But me and Cinderella
We put it all together
We can drive it home
With one headlight"

Thelonious Coltrane
The most underrated
singer-songwriter of the mid-90s.
This was the music I grew up with!

The beauty of this song lies in the fact that even if most of the lyrics do not rhyme, it works great.

Logged into a computer at my University and found a textfile titled "things", in that file was a list of artists, and one of them was The Wallflowers, I don't know who made the file, but thank you.

Remember when MTV was for music and not dumb stuff? And the radio? Heard my dad listening to this on the radio a while ago and never stop liking it since. Radios are long since forgotten now, but I still listen to it sometimes in the truck but they never play any of the good old ones.. that's why I still use cassettes
John Halai
Lyrics.. Every word is a art here.. a long gone story so alive.. So sad.. So incomplete.. So beautiful
Kristopher Levine
Shoutout to all the people listening to this song because its a good nostalgic song from the 90s and not because of Geico
Roger Williams
"I'm so alone, I feel just like somebody else. Man I ain't changed, but I know I ain't the same". Those lyrics always get me!
Colin Kinsey

so losing someone loved feels like losing half of self and having to continue living like that, broken in half?
I'm not sure if I got the song...
