Lyrics:

Pray God you can cope.

I stand outside this woman's work,

This woman's world.

Ooh, it's hard on the man,

Now his part is over.

Now starts the craft of the father.

I know you have a little life in you yet.

I know you have a lot of strength left.

I know you have a little life in you yet.

I know you have a lot of strength left.

I should be crying, but I just can't let it show.

I should be hoping, but I can't stop thinking

Of all the things I should've said,

That I never said.

All the things we should've done,

That we never did.

All the things I should've given,

But I didn't.

Oh, darling, make it go,

Make it go away.

Give me these moments back.

Give them back to me.

Give me that little kiss.

Give me your hand.

(I know you have a little life in you yet.

I know you have a lot of strength left.

I know you have a little life in you yet.

I know you have a lot of strength left.)

I should be crying, but I just can't let it show.

I should be hoping, but I can't stop thinking

Of all the things we should've said,

That were never said.

All the things we should've done,

That we never did.

All the things that you needed from me.

All the things that you wanted for me.

All the things that I should've given,

But I didn't.

Oh, darling, make it go away.

Just make it go away now.

I thought my boy Maxwell was the original. Respect Kate

Maxwell's version is the only one I knew before now. I thank him for remaking and not remixing this song. with that being said, I'm so happy to have found the og version...because it speaks directly to my core. I feel like Maxwell (love him), sang the song to women, whereas she's singing for women...if that makes any sense at all

There is nothing I would not give to have moments back with my wife. RIP Katrina.

I don't understand why people have to rank the two artists who portrayed this song. Thank you Kate for a BEAUTIFUL song that moves so many, and thank you Maxwell for bringing the song to a new audience with your interpretation. That being said, could everyone please stfu and enjoy the music now? K thanks.

God. I haven't listened to this song since my husband died. It hurts.

All the years of my life, I've never had a song touch my heart like this one. No matter when or how many times Ive heard it, every single time it makes my heart swell. <3

I am 45 y/o... the first version I heard (at 18) was Kate's which was very moving. When Maxwell did it over, I loved his version and it was just as moving to me. I like both versions for different reasons:

When I hear Maxwell's version, it makes me cognizant of how special love is and we shouldn't take it for granted because we could destroy something that we'd regret we didn't give better attention, time and respect to.

When I listen to Kate's version, it makes me cognizant of how we shouldn't take life for granted because the next moment is not promised. Today, the current moment is all we have and we must all give today our everything. Live, laugh and love hard!

The difference in delivery.

This is such a beautiful song...
Both Kate and Maxwell have done amazing jobs singing this song.

I should be crying, but I just can't let it show...

This song make's me think of my passed loves and missed chances for real love. It realy sucks getting old with regret in your heart and this song, any version of it brings my soul crashing down on its knees.
Shelby Zimmer
This was the best part of the movie. Makes me cry every time I see it. I may be one of the few who like, She's Having a Baby. Kevin Bacon <3

Nothing like the original, however Maxwell's cover showed his dynamics as an artist. I think his version was his way of showing everyone what he was capable of doing. Two octaves higher than his natural singing level. That's pretty amazing. Also to any who says One is better than the other, I disagree with you, Kate's Version was definitely about a woman giving birth. Maxwell's version was more about The Woman or Women. Just how precious the life of a woman is,thus the seen from Love &Basketball. Each version appeased to an opposite audience. Just my opinion.....
Mercedes Carter
you people put down maxwell but his voice is beautiful and gorgeous
Darnell Major
It would take a long time to get used to this version if you grew up with the Maxwell version because it's all about what entered your conscious first and how long it''s been there. That was the case for me and now I like this version as much as his.
ella elise
BOTH. VERSIONS. ARE. GREAT. LEARN TO GET OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE MUSICALLY.
Mercedes
I like this version but honestly I never knew about it until now! I thought it was Maxwell's song all along.
Madyson Morgan
I love how the two artist made the song sound so different from each other's. You can turn to one or the other in different situations in your life and get a different reaction from them. Both versions are amazing!
