Lyrics:

Listen as the wind blows from across the great divide

voices trapped in yearning, memories trapped in time

the night is my companion, and solitude my guide

would I spend forever here and not be satisfied?

and I would be the one

to hold you down

kiss you so hard

I'll take your breath away

and after, I'd wipe away the tears

just close your eyes dear

Through this world I've stumbled

so many times betrayed

trying to find an honest word to find

the truth enslaved

oh you speak to me in riddles

and you speak to me in rhymes

my body aches to breathe your breath

your words keep me alive

Why is this song being made synonymous with Fifty shades of grey? Lets not insult such a great song with that crap.

this song reminds me of the movies the Craft and Practical Magic. The female vibration of the 90s was distinct. Nothing like today.

This is a very dark song..when you know what it means...

I bought this cassette single at Walmart for $1.66 exactly 20 years ago today.

What ever happened to good, emotion filled, music like this?

Boy does this take me back. It's dark. It's moody. I sure do miss the 90's

Forgive me for being garrulous but today when I was walking through Sears, I heard this song for the first time since I listened to Z100 back in the 5th grade (1994). Somehow, I completely forgot this song existed over the past 20 years, but when I heard it again today I stayed in the store until it was over and then I realized that my breathing had slowed the entire time. Obviously, this song had an tremendous impact on the young me (and I was by no means a "soft" 5th grader; being Hispanic, into hardcore music, and from Brooklyn), since hearing it brought me right back to my childhood in such a visceral way.

It's so chilling, so beautiful, and downright fascinating that a great song like this can do that to a man, even after 20 years.

I love getting high to Sarah McLachlan.

Something how she took a negative situation (Stalker) and turned it into a positive ( Beautiful music), Then again that's Sarah would you expect any less?
The Wizard Of Beardtopia
This song makes me melt.... and I'm a big bearded dude!

This song reaches the deepest and darkest emotions of the human spirit and brings it to life!!! Love this song ❤️

I'm glad to say I grew up in the 90's. nothing will ever come close to some of the great music that came out in that decade.

Whoever played and composed the Bass on this song deserves a noble prize.

Into this night I wander
it's morning that I dread
another day of knowing of
the path I fear to tread
oh into the sea of waking dreams
I follow without pride
nothing stands between us here
and I won't be denied
and I would be the one
to hold you down
kiss you so hard
I'll take your breath away
and after, I'd wipe away the tears
just close your eyes...

I've been searching for this song all morning, The only word I could remember is "Kiss". Did you know that out of all of the "Top 100 songs from the 90's" lists that I've poured through all morning, Sarah McLachlan wasn't even listed once, WTF? I never would have found it if I hadn't suddenly remembered the rest "kiss...you so hard, i'll take your breath away". She's totally underrated. why isn't she on the top 90's song lists?

When life hands you some psychopath stalker letters, compose a timeless song from their content.  :) Now that's turning lemons to lemonade.

Leia Woods
I love this song! I know she said it was a combination of creepy fan mail that created the song but Sarah turned it into something beautiful and artistic.

The 247 people who gave this a thumbs down are playing this on repeat and crying alone.
