Why yes I AM dancing around the livingroom to The Cure with my headphones on at midnight all by myself at this very moment like the teen-ager I used to be.

This is the most meaningful song to me. I listened to this when I was in my depressed junior year. I remember one moment in particular when i wanted to actually die. I just broke into tears because i felt like i was a complete failure and never would amount to anything. The opening line of the song reminds me of the days that seemed to drag on forever because of the inescapable sadness i was going through. It is crazy how fatigued you get from your depression. Thats why the verse "yesterday i got so old i felt like i could die" reminds me of those dark days. I would get so tired and mentally drained from my depression i felt like i had gone through a lifetime of hardship and i just wanted to close my eyes forever. Its been about a year and im doing a lot better. I feel much more motivated to take on the next day. To anyone reading this who feels the same way i want you to know that it will get better. Everything takes time

Yesterday I got so old,
I felt like I could die,
Yesterday I got so old,
It made me want to cry
Go on, go on,
Just walk away
Go on, go on,
Your choice is made
Go on, go on,
And disappear
Go on, go on,
Away from here
And I know I was wrong,
When I said it was true,
That it couldn't be me,
And be her in between,
Without you,
Without you
Yesterday I got so scared,
I shivered like a child,
Yesterday away from you,
It froze me deep inside,
Come back, come back,
Don't walk away,
Come back, come back,
Come back today,
Come back, come back,
Why can't you see
Come back, come back,
Come back to me,
And I know I was wrong,
When I said it was true,
That it couldn't be me,
And be her in between,
Without you,
Without you
Without you
Without you
Without you
Without you
Without you
Without you

The Cure is such a great band. So many of their songs evoke emotions of happiness/sadness/beauty/love/nostalgia.

I feel bad for people growing up today who’s parents never turned them on to music like this.

Nobody does romantic longing as convincingly like the great ROBERT SMITH!!
